POPDHH ASL Programs and Services – Fall 2020

ASL Online Fall 2020 – Encore – now open for registration!

Registration is now open for our ASL online class for beginners (Level 1).  The class will be held twice per week for 5 consecutive weeks, Tuesdays and Thursdays from November 17th to December 17th.

The registration closes on November 9th, or when the class capacity is reached.

What has POPDHH been up to? 

  • October 17th – Lynley presented at the BC Family Hearing Resource Society’s Education Fair.
  • October 23rd – Our Team attended the CAEDHH – BC annual conference, which had Collaborative Practice as the main theme.
  • October 29th – we resumed our popular webinar series for TDHHs and other Deaf education professionals. Now dubbed “Lunch and Learn Thursdays”, the series kicked off with a presentation by ACE-BC, formerly known as Post Secondary Communications Access Services (PCAS). The handouts and recording will be available shortly on our websiteDon’t forget to register for the upcoming workshops on November 12th and 26th and December 10th.

IEP Binder: You may find this resource handy during the busy IEP season, found on the Understood.org website.Terminology in Deaf Education: For several years there has been a movement toward using more inclusive and strengths-based terminology.  Use this infographic and check out the link below for more information. Please share with administrators and colleagues to guide them away from terms that place an emphasis on disability or audism (i.e., ‘hearing impaired’ and ‘hearing resource teacher’).
