Exciting Updates to Our Summer ASL Appreciation Course!
Are you looking for a flexible way to expand your inclusive teaching toolkit this summer? We are thrilled to announce a fantastic upgrade to our Summer ASL Appreciation Course for staff supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students.
To better fit your summer schedule, we are transitioning our 10-session course from live sessions to a fully virtual, self-paced learning module. You can now dive into this valuable learning whenever and wherever it works best for you!
Who is this course for?
This course is specially designed for school-based team personnel, especially those who may be brand new to welcoming a DHH student who uses American Sign Language (ASL) into their school community.
What you will learn:
- Gain meaningful insights into visual language and the specific learning needs of DHH students.
- Master essential ASL vocabulary most beneficial for building relationships and fostering an inclusive school environment.
- Learn how to create and maintain environments that support visual learners.
- Discover ways to embrace and celebrate the incredible diversity and culture that Deaf students bring to our school communities.
Please Note: This is an introductory appreciation course aimed at awareness and relationship-building. It is not a certification course and is not sufficient for staff serving as primary language models.
