Here’s an interesting article shared by a fellow teacher at the BC School for the Deaf.  It provides study results on suspensions of DHH students and how discipline is disproportionately meted out in Deaf Schools: Patterns of Concern Related to Gender and Ethnicity.
The Westcoast Association of Visual Language Interpreters (WAVLI) has kindly put together a list of professional standards, intended to assist school districts in the preparation of sign language interpreter job postings. Please share this memo with your district’s Inclusive Education/Learning Support Services Administrators, and HR departments.
