Based on the advice and guidance from our School Board, Public Health Authorities, and in the best interests of the health and safety of our students, staff and families, we have made a difficult decision to cancel Deaf and Hard of Hearing Connections Week. This includes the Optimist Competition, Education Day and Friendship Day, as well as the Itinerant Conference.

While it is unfortunate and disappointing to have to cancel this event that hosts approximately 150 students and staff from across BC, we are taking into account the fast evolving situation regarding COVID-19. We will continue to monitor closely and follow the guidelines set out by our School District. POPDHH program is hosted the Burnaby Education Board and is required to follow its protocols and policies.

We recognize the tremendous effort that has been put forth all year by teachers across British Columbia, and we realize the students look forward to participating in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Connection Week. Although cancelling our biggest DHH student event was a difficult decision to make, health and safety of all participants, including students, support staff, teachers, Administrators, coaches, family, and the general public, are of the utmost importance to POPDHH.

We thank our Deaf and Hard of Hearing students/support staff/teachers for their patience and understanding on this matter. We hope to see you all next year!

Happy Spring Break – March 16th – March 27th

Please note that the POPDHH office will be closed during Spring Break. We will be back in the office on March 30th. Enjoy the break and be well!
